Despite lockdowns and closed borders, quarantines and hand sanitizer, the world will not stop burning. Not even for Covid-19. These are the fires that are being lit no matter whether we are facing a global pandemic or not.


Some are social: The Black Lives Matter protests sparked by George Floyd's death. Others are environmental disasters: Cyclone Amphan hitting South Asia, forcing 2.6 million to evacuate into crowded camps or the floods ravaging East Africa's landscape.

We often speak of the "New Normal". But can this normal accommodate justice? Can it cope with climate change? Will it keep us safe enough?
