When it comes to COVID-19, older people are especially vulnerable to severe illness. The increased threat to life for those 60 and over means that age has become a demarcation - of how much freedom you have, of how socially connected you are and of how fearful you might be.

For many, being 60 didn't mean much before February 2020, but the physical vulnerability of older generations to the disease has changed that. Over-60s are being challenged by requirements to spend more time at home, by the lack of physical contact with family members and friends and an increased anxiety and fear of illness and death – their own and those close to them.

Capturing faces of wisdom and defiance, this collection pays attention to the way we look at age and the elderly in the times of the coronavirus pandemic.
